BREEDERS' CUP FUTURES

Breeders' Cup FuturesThe Breeders' Cup Futures Bet is a special wager that challenges fans to select in advance the winners of the annual Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships races.

The Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships is an annual series of thoroughbred horse races created as a year-end championship for North American thoroughbreds. In addition to American and Canadian horses, it also attracts top horses from other parts of the world, especially Europe. The Breeders' Cup Championships is sponsored by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) and held on a single day at a predetermined site, usually in the United States or Canada.

Currently, there are eight races on the Breeders' Cup card, all classified as Grade I races. The order of the first five listed races varies from year to year, but the 'Juvenile', 'Turf', and 'Classic' are traditionally the last three races. All races, unless otherwise indicated, are for any horse, regardless of sex, 3 years old and up, and are held on a dirt track.

Breeders' Cup Futures wagering is regularly offered on these eight races:

  • Breeders' Cup Distaff
  • Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies
  • Breeders' Cup Mile
  • Breeders' Cup Sprint
  • Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf
  • Breeders' Cup Juvenile
  • Breeders' Cup Turf
  • Breeders' Cup Classic

Breeders' Cup Future wagers have the benefit of giving added exposure to the nation's top horses throughout the weeks leading up to the highly anticipated Championship day.

Under Breeders' Cup Future Bet rules, each race will offer an individual pari-mutuel pool on 23 runners plus one field entry. Betting will be held on three or four weekends in the months prior to the Breeders’ Cup. All betting will be win-only with a minimum wager amount of $2.00. At the conclusion of each weekend’s wagering, odds for all entries become final for bets placed that particular weekend.

The Breeders' Cup has been held each year since 1984. Listed below are the venues where it has been held and where future ones will be held.
